MMK, DZMM and TV Patrol in ABU Prizes 2012

ABS-CBN's high-rating drama series MMK (Maalaala Mo Kaya), morning radio station DZMM and news service TV Patrol were the only Philippine entries to qualify as finalists competing against 166 television and 76 radio entries from 18 countries and 25 organizations and vying for a win in five different categories of the 2012 ABU Prizes

MMK episode "T-shirt" is aiming for the Television Special Jury Prize while DZMM's Silveradyo station ID is targeting the Radio Special Jury Prize.

DZMM also earned a finalist slot in both the Radio Jingles/Promo/Station ID's category and Radio News Reporting category for the coverage on typhoon Pedring in program "Radyo  Patrol Balita Alas-Dose".

Apart from this, ABS-CBN's flagship news program TV Patrol is also finalist in the Television News Reporting category for its coverage of typhoon Sendong.

The announcement of winners will be held on October 16 in Seoul, South Korea during the union's general assembly. It is important to highlight the progress of broadcasting in the Philippines; it just shows the credibility and reputation of media men in this highly democratic country.
