Imelda Marcos relatives lose in Tacloban Elections

Tacloban City, Philippines - The Marcos' triumph in Ilocos Norte elections are in contrary to the the losses incurred by some of their close ties in Tacloban.

Former first lady and now elected congresswoman Imelda Marcos's younger brother, Alfredo "Bejo" Romualdez, did not succeed in vying for the people's trust during the vice mayoral race in Tacloban City. The official count of the city board of canvassers  reveals that his sole political rival re-electionist Vice Mayor Jose Arvin Antoni from the Liberal Party earned 38, 731 votes, 3, 410 more than that of the 76-year-old Bejo of Pwersa ng Masa.

In spite of this big defeat, his own son, re-electionist Tacloban City mayor Alfred Romualdez, and daughter-in-law Cristina, has been secured the majority's votes on Tuesday night being officially declared as winners of the election. Alfredo smashed his rival on his reelection bid for City Mayor, while Cristina landed second out of 38 candidates who vied for the council seats.

A newcomer in the electoral field, Jose Mario Bagulaya (25 years old), also failed to grab a council seat in Tacloban. Running under the banner of the Liberal Party, Bagulaya scored 20, 815 votes putting him to 12th place for seat bid. It can be recalled that Bagulaya, reelected Leyte vice governor Mimiette's son, had desired to slash out the gender wall for he was one loud gay person who often cross-dresses. However, during his campaign, he wore pants and their party shirt.

The declared winners in the gubernatorial race also include reelectionist Leyte governor Carlos Jericho Petilla and Biliran's Gerardo Espina.
