iPhone 5 Sale Price, Specs

Apple's latest edition of its flagship smartphone, the iPhone 5, is expected to hit tech stores in the Philippines at the end of 2012. Some predict that the iPhone 5 will be sold earlier with hints of pre-selling prices of iPhone 5 lurking in online shops.

The price of iPhone 5 could fetch between P30,000 and P40,000 for 16GB, while iPhone 5 units released earlier in Singapore, HK and neighboring countries and shipped in to Manila may be sold by high-volume buyers at higher prices, starting at around P45,000 for a 16GB iPhone 5.

Brand new unlocked Apple iPhone 5 units will be made available on September 25 by one seller at P43,800 (for 16GB), P48,800 (for 32GB), and P54,800 (for 64GB). Hope someone verifies the authenticity of the units on sale.

Another seller at Sulit released higher-than-expected iPhone 5 pre-order prices of P47,500 (for 16GB) and 55,500 (for 32GB) whose stocks are set to arrive on November 25, 2012. Meanwhile, the pre-order price of its 64GB iPhone 5 units will be P61,500.

Hope we could hear from those who would have bought iPhone 5 units additional sources of sellers who tag their units with relatively lower prices. The iPhone 5 units' prices released seem to be sky high.

While waiting for the iPhone 5 release, check out some of the most essential specifications and features one has to look at.

Lebanon, not PH, to host FIBA Asia Cup 2013

It isconfirmed in TV5's sports news portal interAKTV that Lebanon, and not the Philippines, will host the FIBA Asia Cup in 2013.

Sonny Barrios, executive director of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, revealed to interAKTV that Lebanon was granted the hosting rights for the FIBA Basketball Cup Championship. However, a condition was raised stating that the Philippines will be its alternative should Lebanon fail to make it.

Incidentally, the Hajop Khajirian, Secretary General of FIBA Asia, is of Lebanese nationality.

Top Philippine basketball personalities expressed their disappointment with the decision made. For a more comprehensive report, visit this Interaksyon.com article: Lebanon, not Philippines, to host FIBA Asia next year.

Globe warns of new scams

Telecommunications giant Globe has urged the public to remain cautious of new modus operandi or scam that victimizes its prepaid  and postpaid users. The act is made possible my making use of an online payment platform, known to be Zong, which allowsits subscribers to purchase digital goods from gaming sites and social networks through mobile phones or texting.

The scam involves a bogus person making a call to a Globe postpaid subscriber, pretending as a Globe customer service representative, and saying that Globe will give away rewards with the prospect victim, in most cases, biting the bait.

SPOTTED: For DotA players, DotA o Ako music video

It actually took me a graduation march before I can finally join the realm of DotA addicts, or the Death of the Ancients world. Some of you may have been directed here to check on DotA cheats for the latest version of DotA, but sorry to disappoint you I wrote this post not to give out DotA cheats, DotA patches, or DotA upgrades.

I am here because, to my surprise, I am finally convinced that I am a certified DotA addict. I play DotA at least twice to thrice a day. I usually use Slayer, Dwarven Sniper or Lightning Revenant; and I feel happy every time I get to kill an enemy hero from the Scourge. I always pick the Sentinel, and I am contented with my base.

Somehow this addiction made me recall about a really viral music video dedicated to DotA players. It somehow hitches on the idea that DotA sometimes gives you a lot of headache and oftentimes, lets you choose, between going to the CR and letting the DotA game end first, between texting your girlfriend or boyfriend and waiting to kill Sand King, between eating at 8AM and starting a new DotA game,  and between attending class or visiting the internet cafe.

DotA is really addictive. It always corners you to make a choice. In this DotA music video, which is now one year old in Youtube, the player is made to choose between DotA and his gf. It comically compares the pros and cons of playing DotA and interacting with his girlfriend.

The title of the newbie music video dedicated to DotA addicts, which now has 15 million views, is "DotA o Ako". Rarely does a youtube video produced in the Philippines reach a million views, so kudos to the people behind this video. Though the whole make-up of the DotA video somewhat shows the video maker is a beginner, I applaud its content, musicality and contagiousness.

Seriously, I like the melody, the rapped out lyrics, and the girl. Haha. Enjoy watching!

FIBA Asia Cup 2012: Quarterfinals Schedule, Smart Gilas plays with Chinese Taipei

The Prelims of the FIBA Asia Cup 2012 has just ended.

With this, the flow of play proceeds to the Quarterfinals of the FIBA Asia Cup 2012, which will commence and take place on September 20, 2012 at the Ota Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.

Due to their failure to win any game, Macau (Group A), and India (Group B) were eliminated and did not qualify for entry to the Quarterfinals.

The four teams that remained per group category, with Smart Gilas at number 2 in the Group A slot, will be pitted against teams from the other category - a crossover game. This means Smart Gilas Philippines will no longer battle China in this round, and instead, may contend with Qatar, Japan, Iran, and Chinese Taipei.

Enlisted below are the matches for the FIBA Asia Cup 2012 quarterfinals:

First Side

Lebanon vs. Qatar
Japan vs. China

Second Side
Iran vs. Uzbekistan
Philippines vs. Chinese Taipei

The Philippines's representative basketball team Smart Gilas will be battling head on with Chinese  Taipei in the Quarterfinals of the FIBA Asia Cup 2012.

The fight is definitely not yet over for Smart Gilas whose immense power and strength was showcased in the last three games it won over - versus Macau, Uzbekistan and Lebanon. Will this good starting shot lead Smart Gilas to the championship/finals round of the FIBA Asia Cup 2012? Let's hope so.

Samsung releases Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5 comparison ad

Korean smartphone maker and electronics giant Samsung took its marketing and advertising strategy to a whole new level in its attempt to clash head-on with Apple through a very sensational, controversial advertisement poster captioned "It doesn't take a genius", a subtle hit referring to Apple's 'geniuses' and an obvious way of rectifying ease of choice.

Samsung placed its Samsung Galaxy S3's specifications and features face-to-face with that of iPhone 5's. And the result brings an imbalance that settles the rift between the two and gives Samsung a point-lead for consumer choices.

After the financial bruise it got from an already-decided adjudged patent dispute, Samsung is no coward in fighting back and recovering what it lost in a recent court decision to pay Apple a big amount of money.

Though the fight is far from over, Samsung has worked so hard to keep pace in the race and prove to everyone especially the die-hard Apple fans  that "the next big thing is already here."

Witty ad statements thrown by Samsung to tease Apple are not new to them. Last year, the release of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia was spoiled due to Apple's winning of a temporary injunction to stop the sale. This ban, however, didn't last and with Samsung permitted to sell the units, it produced a full page ad that said "The tablet Apple tried to stop."

With slower moves coming from the iPhone manufacturer, a simple revising, modifying and developing its flagship iPhone could be its downfall.  For now, third-in-the-race Nokia looks to its advantage on this dynamic rivalry that could definitely influence investments in research & development and of course, stretch out the fabric of competition.
