Free MRT, LRT rides for government employees

In celebration of the 112th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, the Civil Service Commission, in cooperation with the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), will be offering free MRT and LRT rides to government employees on Wednesday, September 19.

To avail of the free MRT ride, government employees must present their valid and updated IDs to the assigned security personnel. They will have to write down their names first before they will be issued a free pass. The pass will be given to the guard on-duty or near the entrance to the waiting area.

To avail of the free LRT ride, government employees must present their valid and updated IDs to the assigned teller. They will have to write down their names first before they will be issued a free pass. The pass will be given to the guard on-duty or near the entrance to the waiting area.

For both transit lines, the "No ID, No FREE RIDE" rule applies.

Free MRT rides will be available to government employees from 7 AM to 7PM, while free LRT rides will be offered from 7 AM to 9 AM and 5 PM to 7 PM only. Government employees who do not arrive at the said time frame will have to pay the regular fee, especially in the LRT rides

In connection with this, LRT passengers, who are government employees, must exit before 10 AM and  8 PM to avoid paying the regular fee.
