In 2011, Busong premiered at the Cannes International Film Fest's Directors Fortnight category. It also won Best Director, Best Sound Design, and Best Musical Score at the Cinemalaya 2011's Director's Showcase category. On the same year, it also won the FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) International Critics Prize at the Eurasia International Film Festival in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The film stars Alessandra de Rossi as a young woman (Punay) who has never stepped on soil because of the wounds on her feet. She is carried around by her brother (Angkarang) on a hammock as they look for a cure to heal the sores that cover her feet. Her worrisome condition reflects progressing environmental destruction threat to Palawan and the changing landscape that results from it.
