Kantar Media has recently released data of its national TV ratings coverage. In the images below, national TV ratings for January 11 and 12 show that ABS-CBN's It's Showtime has edged out GMA's crown jewel program Eat Bulaga! after a surprise ratings boost from the unexpected formation of the AlDub love team featuring Alden Richards and Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza in real life) has caused a ratings drag on the Kapamilya side.
January 11 was the first time It's Showtime successfully won more viewers vs Eat Bulaga! since the creation of the popular segment "KalyeSerye."
On January 12, It's Showtime beat Eat Bulaga! by a meager 0.1%. A day before, on January 11, the former had a 0.3% gap over Eat Bulaga! in the Urban+Rural category.
It can be recalled that Eat Bulaga! obtained a record 40.1% rating, out. Since the start of the year, the ratings gap between It's Showtime and Eat Bulaga! thinned.
Did the entry of Mariel Rodriguez, Amy Perez, and Hashtag help in bringing the gap to a narrow close? Will the classic sub-program "Tawag ng Tanghalan" of It's Showtime take it to a ratings leap?

Happening on October 24, "Aldub - Sa Tamang Panahon," which is touted to be Eat Bulaga's biggest show in its 36-year history, may just show proof of the intense power of AlDub's appeal and the solid support of AlDub Nation, a diverse group of fans worldwide. More than 30,000 tickets have already been sold through TicketWorld for AlDub's grand fans day.
Meanwhile, competitor It's Showtime filled the 16,500-seater Smart Araneta Coliseum during its 6th anniversary kick-off special last September 27 when it fielded ABS-CBN's three biggest love teams as a sign of unity within the station. However, this event could just be dwarfed by AlDub's most awaited and talked about celebration. With this in mind, does this indicate that AlDub is the hottest love team in town?

The proceeds of Lola Nidora's announced special Bayanihan day will be used to fund AlDub libraries in the country. Looks like AlDub's influence could just bring about change in the country as a whole. It is hoped that the phenomenal love team uses its sprawling influence to help transform the Philippine youth landscape and instill more values (outside morality) to our society in its entirety.
Last May, the Philippine Arena welcomed 30,000 attendees to the Katy Petty Prismatic World Tour concert. For the record, the highest number of attendees achieved by the arena is 43,624, a Guinness World record in both Largest Attendance for a Film Screening and the Largest Attendance for a Film Premiere categories, for the INC's Felix Manalo story. In October last year, more than 50,000 spectators attended the Philippine Basketball Association's opening ceremony which was the first commercial and non-INC event conducted in the arena.

Before, it was only Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo as the KathNiel tandem. Then, Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano came in with their LizQuen partnership, which was then followed by James Reid and Nadine Lustre with their JaDine team-up. However, there is this one extremely popular Kapuso love team that just matches the three love teams of the Kapamilya network – AlDub.
Why is that so? Here are five possible reasons that explain why AlDub is the most popular (and most supported) love team to date.
1. Its related hashtags have dominated Twitter-verse and most of the online world.

On September 5, the first actual on-stage encounter between AlDub’s halves Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (aka Yaya Dub) rocked the whole of Twitter-verse causing entertained netizens to score 5.807 million #ALDUBBATTLEForACause tweets!
On September 12, AlDub in its Kalyeserye raked in 6,409,500 tweets for #ALDUBTheAbduction. It was thought to be one of the highest and ceiling point for the number of tweets associated to a love team, but critics were wrong. On September 19, 12.125 million #ALDUBMostAwaitedDate tweets were generated. It was one big face slam to competing show It’s Showtime’s #ShowtimeMagPastillas which only reached approximately 500,000.
But the netizen support was not to be joked upon, on September 26, 25.652 million tweets (yes, you’re reading that right!) #ALDubEBforLOVE tweets were made, closing in on 2015’s most tweeted topic which is the Super Bowl XLIX. Terrific!
Isn’t the number of mentions on Twitter, not yet considering the fact that it broke the world record for the highest number of tweets generated in a day, one TITANIC evidence of AlDub’s popularity? And there’s just more to that as both AGB Nielsen and Kantar TV ratings firms have reported a widening ratings gap between the rival noontime shows Eat Bulaga and It’s Showtime. This just proves the viewer-enticing power of AlDub.
2. AlDub won awards just a few months after its unexpected breakout!
Well, on October 11, Wally Bayola (a.k.a. Lola Nidora), Maine Mendoza, Alden Richards, and TAPE Productions were recognized in the 1st Catholic Social Media Awards which was organized by church-based organizations Youth Pinoy and Areopagus Communications Inc. for "promoting Filipino Christian values and virtues." The awarding ceremony was commenced within the 4th Catholic Social Media Summit, a two-day event with a goal of teaching Catholics how to use social media responsibly and to use it to promote good moral principles.
Last September, AlDub also received the Most Popular Breakout Loveteam award in this year’s EdukCircle Awards.
Now the question is, has there been any love team in the past to have received such awards? It’s probably one of the reasons why AlDub fans stay hooked on to Eat Bulaga’s Kalyeserye episodes, aside from the fact that Yaya Dub and Alden just have it all – the chemistry and the GMRC hehe. They definitely embody what good role models to the youth should be.
3. AlDub has a lot of loud supporters all across the globe from all walks of life!

When the network ratings war was brought to another level, from mainstream to alternative media (Twitter and Facebook), competitor It’s Showtime stepped up its game to counter the rising star of GMA as it’s probably that the Kapamilya Network was determined to smash head-on with the AlDub fame. On September 26, two big events took place: National Pabebe Day on one side versus It’s Showtime Kapamilya Day: The ANIMversary Kick-off. And guess what happened? Your guess is as good as ours. J
5. Alden and Maine are undeniably popular as a team and as reel (and possible real) halves!
The love team can boast of a good following as seen in their great commercials. When sponsors trust you and your appeal to the public, they’d just go after you. Recently, Alden and Maine were both featured in commercials for McDo, Talk n’ Text, Zonrox and Bear Brand.

Eat Bulaga's September 26 KalyeSerye episode, which features Lola Nidora welcoming Alden to her The Explorer Mansion and allowing him to eat lunch at close proximity (set to 1 foot), has raked in a total of 25.6 million #ALDubEBforLOVE tweets.
This beats the record previously set by the same GMA-7 segment of 12 million #ALDUBMostAwaitedDate tweets. They are definitely the love team to beat as AlDub's charisma and appeal to people of any socioeconomic class slams its competitor one question, will ABS-CBN's four love teams -- KathNiel, JaDine, LizQuen, and KimXi -- be able to reach the fame and popularity this phenomenal love team has gained not only in the country, but around the world?
It seems that an answer is no longer needed; It's Showtime's aggressive approach to beat Eat Bulaga by pooling in all of Channel 2's favorite love teams didn't triumph in the Twitter arena during its Showtime Kapamilya Day celebration, the hashtag for which gained 6.09 million tweets.

KalyeSerye is probably one of this year's most significant GMA-7 segment in Eat Bulaga to date, for it not only makes viewers happy and feel in love, but it also instills good moral values that are vital to the PH society today.
Is TV Plus disrupting GMA7's signal during It's Showtime period to prevent viewers from watching Eat Bulaga? A netizen has posted online real evidence of what it seems to be a signal disruption that occurs in GMA7 channel when It's Showtime and Eat Bulaga begin airing.
Is this just an isolated incident or an intentional move? Apparently, Eat Bulaga has been enjoying extra high ratings at the expense of It's Showtime for its phenomenal segment "KalyeSerye" featuring accidental love team #AlDub. There's this new girl in town recently introduced in ABS-CBN's It's Showtime.

Her name is Angelica Jane Yap, aka Pastillas Girl of It's Showtime. Interestingly, she gained overnight popularity when her hugot video on how to make pastillas (in reference to her ex-lover) was featured in various social media.
Pastillas Girl could be one upcoming predator (este competitor) to reigning noontime #AlDub half Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub. Yesterday, #PastillasGirl arrived on It's Showtime looking for her a prospect lover. Guy netizens then tweeted back, one of which caught the people's attention - @ohhJESSko (Jess Verano Senido), who apparently was invited to fly to Manila to meet Pastillas Girl. This TwitterSerye might just bring in a tough contender to the #AlDub love team.

#AlDub Update: Alden and Yaya Dub's first close encounter in Eat Bulaga's "Bulaga Pa More, Dabarkads Pa More" portion last September 5, 2015 (Saturday) brought its rival show It's Showtime down to its knees as the former cornered 39.5% viewership in Mega Manila compared to the latter's 8.7%, according to TV programs ratings monitor AGB Nielsen.

Nationwide, Eat Bulaga had 30.2% of total viewers monitored by AGB Nielsen, more than double that obtained by It's Showtime with 13.1% viewership. At that time, the GMA noontime show ranked number 1 most watched daytime program.

The ratings pull of #AlDub was also demonstrated in data provided by Kantar, as Eat Bulaga took 28.2% nationwide vs It's Showtime with 14.4% last Saturday.

Just when I thought I was about to get myself over with this #AlDub craze, I found myself stuck again thinking about what big success #AlDub frontrunner Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub stands to get from their accidental love team, and most importantly, what a dream girl she is.
What more could you ask from a well-loved girl who can make you laugh hard for her dubs? The way Yaya Dub alters her face just to make it look wacky while mimicking scene scripts and lyrics doesn't seem to keep anyone from glancing at her.
Who wouldn't fall in love with a girl who shows her funny side and who is not afraid to look (well) less pretty? Yes I was referring to Lola Nidora hahahaha.

You wouldn't even want to miss Yaya Dub's signature Pabebe Wave to match Alden's Pacute Look.
And who wouldn't look up to a girl like Maine who can give you the beat (or at least have the set) and...

Looks like someone's out to stopping the love team 'AlDub'. It's Lola Nidora! The spatial connection between Alden Richards and Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza) in Eat Bulaga is being disrupted by Lola Nidora, whose comic look really brings a smirk on everyone's face.

There was this one episode wherein Lola Nidora said, "babala," to which Paolo Ballesteros reacted with "asawa ni," eventually replied with "Babalu" by the 'old woman' who referred to one of the funniest Filipino comedians of all time.
You just can't get enough of this two. GMA's breakthrough love team AlDub just gets all the attention of Filipino netizens nowadays. It's pretty cool that the compatibility of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (more commonly known as Yaya Dub) simply emanates as more and more people get hooked on to them in Eat Bulaga.
I know you want more of the brewing love team in GMA 7. So, here's another video of the popular "AlDub" love team! Alden and Yaya Dub really look good together. Even if they are studios apart, the way they communicate seems so real. The "AlDub" love team really has chemistry.
This, definitely, is the most unexpected love team that other existing love teams should watch out for! It's intensely driving fans, even the macho ones, crazy with how the chemistry between Filipino DubSmash queen Yaya Dub (in real life, Maine Mendoza) and Kapuso hearthrob Alden Richards works, in mysterious, sometimes comic ways haha.
I was actually a bit curios about the word "AlDub" and so I searched about it, mindless that it referred to a love team which surprisingly blossomed in GMA 7's Eat Bulaga. This will be one tough team to beat which could outshine that of Maya and Sir Chief love team in ABS-CBN's Please Be Careful with My Heart.
Even a guy like me made me smile in the way both of them interact on air, especially their cute signature subtle Yaya Dub wave. Can't wait for more of their heart-melting episodes!
