Kantar Media has recently released data of its national TV ratings coverage. In the images below, national TV ratings for January 11 and 12 show that ABS-CBN's It's Showtime has edged out GMA's crown jewel program Eat Bulaga! after a surprise ratings boost from the unexpected formation of the AlDub love team featuring Alden Richards and Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza in real life) has caused a ratings drag on the Kapamilya side.
January 11 was the first time It's Showtime successfully won more viewers vs Eat Bulaga! since the creation of the popular segment "KalyeSerye."
On January 12, It's Showtime beat Eat Bulaga! by a meager 0.1%. A day before, on January 11, the former had a 0.3% gap over Eat Bulaga! in the Urban+Rural category.
It can be recalled that Eat Bulaga! obtained a record 40.1% rating, out. Since the start of the year, the ratings gap between It's Showtime and Eat Bulaga! thinned.
Did the entry of Mariel Rodriguez, Amy Perez, and Hashtag help in bringing the gap to a narrow close? Will the classic sub-program "Tawag ng Tanghalan" of It's Showtime take it to a ratings leap?
