Calling all freshmen students, join the 21st Philippine Statistics Quiz

Are you aspiring to become a statistician someday? Want to learn more about the practical uses of statistics in day-to-day living? Well, here's an exciting competition for you!

The National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Philippine Statistical Association (PSA) formally jump-started their search for the country's young statistics wizards. In its website, NSO announced information on the said statistics contest.
All Filipino first-time freshmen students currently enrolled in the second semester of the school year 2012-2013 all over the country are invited to join the 21st Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ).
The PSQ is an annual search that aims to assess the competency and skills of students in statistics as acquired from the secondary education curriculum. It also hopes to promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of science, statistics in particular, among the students. Lastly, it seeks to generate public awareness on the importance of statistics in all development-planning activities and win overall support for all government statistical activities.
In its effort to select the best from among the "bests", the PSQ holds regional championship simultaneously to screen contenders in the national championship. The 2012 PSQ regional championships will be held in the regional centers on November 20, 2012 while the national finals will be on December 4, 2012 in Metro Manila.
All regional champions will be awarded during the PSQ national finals with a PSQ medal and a certificate of recognition. Likewise, their coaches will be given a certificate of recognition.
The college or university where the 17 regional champions are enrolled, as well as the high school where they graduated, shall all be awarded with Certificates of Recognition.
Cash prizes are at stake for both the top five winners - both the student and the coach! For the 1st placer, P30,000 will be awarded to the student and P15,000 to the coach. The second placer will receive P25,000 (student) and P12,500 (coach). The third placer will get P20,000 (student) and P10,000 (coach). The fourth placer will be given P15,000 (student) and P7,500 (coach). The fifth placer will be awarded  P10,000 (student) and P5,000 (coach).

PSQ trophies will also be given to all top five national placers. The announcement in the NSO website reveals further:
