STEPS | How to enroll credit and debit card in BDO online banking

I applied for a BDO debit card in 2013 and ever since I had it, it's been easier for me to pay for things that I buy in SM Supermarket. In fact, whenever I buy condiments, fruits, meat, eggs, vegetables, bread, and snacks in SM or even in Robinsons, I only bring with me my BDO debit card and less than ten pesos in coins hehe.

Two years on, I only realized I should have enrolled my BDO debit card online to make it easier for me to check my balance, pay for my bills, buy load, or transfer my money.

In this post, I will show you the steps in order to enroll your BDO debit card online. It's actually very easy and convenient, pramis. :)

1. Visit BDO's website which will show you the home page of BDO's online banking interface.

2. Click Enroll Now. You will be directed to a page containing the "Electronic Banking Terms and Conditions of Use" which you will read and accept.

3. Fill out the BDO Online Banking application form.

You'll be asked to fill the following information:
  • Type of account to enroll - credit card or deposit account
  • Know that when enrolling your deposit account:
    • Only the following accounts are allowed for initial enrollment:
      • Individual or Joint "OR" ATM-based Savings or Current Account
      • Credit Card (Principal Card)
    • Other BDO accounts like Time Deposits, Cash Card, Consumer Loans and Trust Accounts may be enrolled as additional accounts once you have activated your Online Banking.
  • Where you are enrolling from - either within or outside the Philippines
  • Channels for enrollment - you may tick the boxes for online, phone or SMS banking

Since we're talking about online banking, I'll explain more about this. Additional boxes will pop out if you click on phone and SMS banking choices. You'll then be asked to:
  • Input your Account Information which includes,
    • ATM Card Number - the 16 digits found in front of your BDO debit card
    • Account Number - the 10 digits provided to you by the BDO teller, just add two 0's before the 10 digits to complete the account number
    • Account Type - Current Account (PHP), Savings Account (PHP or USD)
    • Preferred Nickname
  • Nominate your Online Banking Information which includes your desired user ID, password (please keep this complicated), mobile number, and email address

  • Security questions will also be vital for your security. The form will ask you to  give two questions the answers of which you solely know. You may opt to give complicated answers (and not just direct answers so that your account won't be compromised, e.g. in what city were you born, you may answer "TheCityofMalabon" or "MalabonCityMyLove"). You can make your answers hilarious haha. Just don't forget to write the answers down and keep the paper in a safe place.
  • Lastly, you'll be asked to validate your enrollment by entering the CAPTCHA code containing 4 letters in an image
  • After completing the form, click Submit.

4. Copy or memorize the activation code. This code will be used when activating using a BDO ATM (automated teller machine) within 45 days from enrollment. So, proceed to the nearest BDO ATM and perform this last step - activate your online enrollment.

When you find an ATM, activate your enrollment by clicking OTHER SERVICES, selecting ACTIVATE INTERNET BANKING, and entering the Activation Code you wrote down a while ago.

If done correctly, you will be sent an email validating your approved BDO Internet Banking application. You may then start accessing your account and make transactions online.
