The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Science High School System (DOST-PSHS System) is now open for applications to the National Competitive Examination (NCE) for incoming Grade 7 Students for School Year (SY) 2016-2017.
The deadline for filing of application will be on August 24, 2015.
National Competitive Exam date will be on October 3, 2015.
Eligibility
A Grade 6 pupil from a duly recognized school by the Department of Education (DepEd) who meets the following criteria is eligible to apply for the DOST-PSHS NCE:
(1) have a final grade of 85% or better in Science and Mathematics, evidenced by the pupil’s report card, if a pupil’s grade in Science or Mathematics is below 85%, then he/she must provide evidence that he/she belongs to the upper 10% of the class
(2) be a Filipino citizen with no pending application as immigrant to any foreign country
(3) be born on or after July 1, 2001
(4) be in good health and be fit to undergo a rigorous academic program
(5) have at least a satisfactory rating (or its equivalent) in his/her Character Rating in his/her SY 2014-2015 report card
(6) not have taken any NCE in previous years.
Application Requirements
(1) fully accomplished Application Form in two copies
(2) two identical recent 1” x 1” ID pictures
(3) non-refundable test fee (P 100 for private schools, free for public schools)
(4) copy of SY 2014-2015 report card
(5) if the final grades in Science and Mathematics are below 85%, certification or proof that the child belongs to the upper 10% of the class
The examination permits will be issued to the applicants upon completion of all documents by the campus where the application was processed. For applications filed with DOST agencies, the examination permits will be mailed to the applicants, or to the school principal/head for distribution to his/her applicant(s).
In case the examination permits are not received two weeks before the examination day, the applicants should check with the nearest PSHS campus, DOST Regional Office, DOST Provincial Science and Technology Office, or the PSHS System Admissions Office.
