Mothers of any kind of species definitely bear that instinct to care for their young. As it happens to us, mothers of the wild do the same thing when they realize their young is out of their watch.
All mothers and babysitters do come across this. Every once in a while, when it's nap time or late at night, we sometimes see our young ones take some moments exploring whatever area is interesting. And when we catch them already far from our vision, we rush to their aid and do what we ought to do.
