Popular actress-host Kris Aquino was revealed as the number one taxpayer in the Philippines according to the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) list of Top 500 individual taxpayers in 2011.

Kris paid a total of P49.87 million in taxes for 2011. Businessmen, other celebrities, and politicians also made it to the BIR’s roster of top individual taxpayers.
The top 20 taxpayers in the Philippines are as follows:

It may be noted that Kris beat the Philippines' richest billionaire Henry Sy in taxes who paid at least a third of what Kris paid last 2011, an amount totaling P16,582,952.00. PLDT chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP) was the fourth highest taxpayer with P25.99 million, while Aurelio Montinola III, president and CEO of Bank of the Philippine Islands, followed with P24.47 million.
At sixth place was Gerardo Ablaza, Manila Water president, who paid P22.65 million. Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Philippe Lhuillier was seventh with P21.65 million, who then preceded Victor M. Angeles who paid taxes of P21.2 million.
Completing the Top 10 individual taxpayers list for 2011 were Roberto L. Panlilio of JP Morgan Chase & Co. (ninth, P19.61 million) and GMA Network chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon (10th, P19.59 million).
