Two weeks before the national and local elections, some UP students from all over the country logged on to a platform called Botong Isko to exercise their right to vote in a mock elections. This was done so as to reflect who among the senatorial candidates are their top pick and who among them are their least favorite.
Results from the Tatak Botante page show that Dick Gordon, Risa Hontiveros and Chiz Escudero were the most favored candidates, while Kabataan party-list was the top choice party. Landing at the last two (2) slots were Bro. Eddie Villanueva (27.5%) and Ramon Magsaysay Jr. (27%).
Dick Gordon's the most popular candidate for Iskos and Iskas who joined the mock polls earning 67% of the total online votes counted. Meanwhile, Kabataan party-list led five other pary-lists in the list of top 5 national political organizations chosen, but with a lowly 16.5%, it does not seem to appeal high in terms of choice and inclination.
While it's true that a lot of students voted, it does seem to provide a partial perspective of what these Iskolar ng Bayan think and how they respond about politics nowadays. The page, however, maintains that "Botong Isko results do not represent the entire UP population."
During its earlier stage of mock polling, Botong Isko was hounded with security and reliability issues of the platform, as the technical team was able to detect "at least 46 cases of compromised accounts accessed and voted for successively from two IP addresses."
