900 out of about 1750 UP Diliman freshmen enrollees belong to million peso-earning families

Over half of the freshmen enrollees in UP Diliman, or 900 out of 1750 first year UP Diliman students, were classified under category Bracket A of the Socialized Tuition Fee and Financial Assistance Program (STFAP). Most of them, assumed to have a gross annual income of over P1 million, have "self-declared" their family income, according to UP President Alfredo Pascual.

For this, they will be paying P1,500 per unit for the current academic year with a 3,000 percent surge from only 29 undergraduate students classified in this bracket last year.

On the other hand, only 40 freshmen were categorized under the lowest brackets E1 and E2 and will be granted free tuition. They make up only around 7 percent of the total number of freshmen who applied for the STFAP.
