The Philippines (through the Philippine Azkals) has improved in its rankings at 147 (with 178 points), a record high for that matter, in the Coca-Cola FIFA Rankings.
The country’s ranking at 147th is the highest obtained by the Philippines since the day the national football rankings have been published
The Philippine Azkals' victory in the recently held Philippine Peace Cup pushed up their ranking three spots from 150th, boosted more by their previous victory against Singapore.
The Philippines is now at a tie with Kazakhstan at the 147th spot in the FIFA rankings. The Philippines is still behind Thailand (139th) and Vietnam at (140th). ASEAN economic giants Singapore and Malaysia tied at the 162nd place.
Topping the FIFA rankings list are Spain, Germany, Portugal, Argentina, England, Netherlands, Uruguay and Italy.
The Philippines also stayed steady at rank three among its Southeast Asian counterparts in the Asian Football Confederation.
The Philippine Azkals are currently undergoing preparations for the upcoming AFP Suzuki Cup 2012 which will be held in Thailand. These include joining training camps in the Middle East including FIFA-sanctioned games with Bahrain (115th) and Kuwait (112th)
