The last of the four general steps of business registration
in the Philippines is the compliance to certain government agencies’
business-related regulations. One of these agencies where you have to register
your business with is the Department of Environment and Natural Resources
(DENR).
You need to secure your business’s Environmental Compliance
Certificate (ECC) if your business is located in an Environment Critical Area
(ECA) or if your business relies on a Non-Environmental Critical Project
(ENCJ).
Getting an ECC, the clearance from DENR, is necessary to
avoid potential lawsuits from environmentalists when unwanted costly
environmental tragedies take place. Compliance to this is a must for mining,
agriculture or construction projects.
To get an EOC, proceed to the DENR Office along Visayas
Avenue in Diliman (Quezon City) or visit the DENR Regional/Provincial Office
nearest you, and meet their requirements for getting an Environment Compliance
Certificate.
These requirements are the following:
- Proponents must submit a
letter of request to the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) stating
desire to receive ECC.
- Attach Project
description. This should include the raw materials which will be used, the
process or manufacturing technology, and other environmentally impacting
factors.
- Submit the estimated
project capacity, type and volume of products and discharges.
- Submit proof of possession
of necessary capital for proposed project.
- Submit location map of
project area.
- Satisfy manpower
requirements
