Cyber attacks have again ruled the Philippine web but this time reportedly reached media sites particularly the websites of Balita, Tempo, and the Manila Bulletin, whose homepage redirected to the Facebook page of Cybercrime critic Pixel Offensive.
Also, the Project NOAH website (essential in information dissemination on rainfall status and weather conditions) almost got hacked and was saved by engineers and programmers of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
In their Facebook pages, members of the Anonymous Philippines denied being involved in the recent news site attacks and Project NOAH hacking attempt.
One statement released by Anonymous Philippines in its Facebook page said:
Fellow Anons,
Recently there was an attack on the following media sites:Why Not? Two Reasons.
http://www.mb.com.ph/,http://www.tempo.com.ph/,http://www.balita.net.ph/ and Project NOAH.
We would like to stress out that we had NOTHING to do we those attacks and we could never identify the party responsible for those attacks.
First, Project NOAH is a life saving project which aids our fellow Filipinos during times of calamities and crippling that system is strictly AGAINST our ethics.
Second, We have rules and ethics that we follow strictly and one of them is NEVER to attack media sites or any sites that is being used by the masses to gather info.
Lastly, Before those attacks happened, We had already agreed to STOP further attacks and wait for the response from the government about their stand on the Cyber Crime Law.So now, we let the people decide.
But PLEASE put into mind that Anonymous is an idea, Anonymous is Freedom, and Anonymous will always stand for what is right and just.
We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We Do not Forget. We Do no Forgive.Expect Us.
