MTRCB new film classification ratings out

Broadcast and film governing board Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has announced a new classification system for movies that will be shown nationwide.

The body considered factors such as language, violence, theme, nudity, sexual content, and illegal drugs in the classification.

Based on the new classification, just like what is shown before a TV program airs, MTRCB will show guidelines and verbal advisory before the movie starts to roll.

The new classification ratings for films iare the following:
  • Rated G - for everyone (general audience0)
  • Rated PG - seeks parental guidance for accompanying children
  • Rated 13 - only for those who are 13 years old and above 
  • Rated 16 - only for those who are 16 years old and above
  • Rated 18 - only for those who are 18 years old and above 
  • Rated X - not suitable for public exhibition
Furthermore, MTRCB will post new classification ratings inside the cinema houses or theaters.
