Warrant of arrest
The first division of the Sandiganbayan has issued an arrest warrant for former President, now-Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA) for her, and nine others', alleged involvement in the plunder of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds worth P366 million.
If found guilty of the non-bailable crime, the accused may be sentenced to reclusion perpetua or imprisonment with terms from 20 years and a day to 40 years.
Running for reelection
Despite her medical condition and pending pile-ups of graft and plunder charges filed against her, GMA through her son Ang Galing Pinoy Rep. Mikey Arroyo has filed her certificate of candidacy Wednesday at 3 PM at the provincial branch of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
The documents presented to Pampanga election supervisor Lydia Pangilinan include a certificate of nomination from Lakas-CMD and a proxy authorization letter for her son to file in behalf of her.
As of Wednesday, no candidate either independent or supported by a political party, has filed a COC to challenge Arroyo’s reelection bid.
