Official List of 2013 Senatorial Candidates

An official list of senatorial candidates (senatoriables) for the upcoming May 2013 senatorial elections, at least consisting of four (4) former lawmakers, five (5) incumbent senators, one (1) congressman, and one (1) Cabinet official, was issued by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) last month.

52 out of the 82 candidacy aspirants were declared nuisance candidates by the COMELEC.

The official candidates for the  2013 senatorial elections are the following:

Loren Legarda, Chiz Escudero top senatorial candidate bets survey

Senator Loren Legarda and Senator Chiz Escuder lead in a recent survey conducted by Pulse Asia Inc. that enlists the top choice senators to get a seat in the 2013 Elections, if the elections were held in September.

It may be seen that a lot of those included in the Senatorial 2013 Elections survey are current senators of the Philippines, which means the public will definitely be seeing some of these senators running again for an enviable, honorable Senatorial seat.

The list of the most looked-forward bets for Senatorial race, if and when they announce their intent to run, is found below.

Aquino, Binay Win in May 10 Elections

MANILA, Philippines - Incumbent Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, landed victorious in the presidential race with a wide lead of about five million votes to his closest rival, former president Joseph "Erap" Estrada. Meanwhile, Makati Mayor Jejemor Binay won the vice presidential seat with a sharp edge of over 727, 084 votes over Roxas.

Here is the official tally of votes after the Congress, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers, completed the canvass of 278 certificates of votes after eight days.

Hindi sino, kundi kanino ang iboboto mo?

Meron kang dalawang uri ng boto: Ang una ay ang "boto ng konsensya". Ito ay para sa pinunong kinilatis mo, pinag-aralang maigi, pinaniniwalaan, at inaasahang may magagawa para sa bayan. Ang ikalawang uri ay ang "boto ng diskarte". Ito ay para sa kandidatong iboboto mo na lang para hindi manalo ang ayaw mo.

Para sa akin, mas matatanggap kong pamunuan ni Kiko Matsing ang bansa ko nang nagampanan ko nang tama ang tungkulin ko sa bayan bilang botante, kumpara sa makapagluklok ako ng ibang pinuno na resulta ng pagtalikod ko sa obligasyong bumoto nang tama. Dahil sa sandaling talikuran ko ang tama--sa ngalan ng diskarte--ay binibigyan ko na rin ng lisensya ang mga pinuno ng bayan ko na kumilos base sa diskarte, kapalit ng tama.

Ang boto ng konsensya ay base sa pag-asa. Ang boto ng diskarte ay base sa takot.

Ang bayan ng mga botante ng diskarte ay walang maaasahang pamunuan ng konsensya. Ang mga mamamayang kuntento na sa "pangalawang tama" ay mapagkakalooban ng pinunong ganoon din ang pamamalakad. Ang bansang hindi natututo, habambuhay na lang bibigyan ng leksyon.

Ini-endorso ko ang pagboto nang tama. Pwedeng matalo ang kandidato mo, pwedeng mangulelat. Pero mararamdaman mo lang ang kalayaan mo bilang tao at kapangyarihan mo bilang mamamayan sa Ika-sampu ng Mayo pagnasabi mo sa sarili mong "Napagkalooban ako ng karapatang pumili ng pinuno ng bayan ko, at nakaboto ako base sa sarili kong desisyon at ayon sa konsensya ko."

Kalapastanganan sa sariling dangal ang pagboto sa taong iba sa tunay mong pinaniniwalaan- -dahil man ito sa may tumutok ng baril sa ulo mo, may bumili ng iyong boto, o mag-isa pong piniling iboto na lang kung sinuman ang tingin mong mananalo.

Hindi nasasayang ang boto sa mga talunang kandidato. Nasasayang ito sa mga talunang botante.

Kung iboboto mo ang boto na ayon sa desisyon ng iba, sino pa ang boboto ng ayon sa desisyon mo?

Aquino Leads Survey

Overthrown president Joseph "Erap" Estrada now competes with Sen. Manuel "Manny" Villar for the second-to-the-highest rating spot, while Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III overtakes with a 19-pt lead, as supported by the latest survey conducted by Pulse Asia Inc.

Villar's drop in ratings could be due to the rise of negative stories impacting negative voter feedback and lowering his integrity.

MILF Not to Disrupt Elections

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front, Philippines' largest Muslim rebel group, has agreed to help prevent violence on a troubled southern island in Mindanao during conduct of its national and local elections, Major-General Anthony Alcantara said on Saturday. "We have secured a commitment from the rebels not to disrupt the elections on May 10," southern Mindanao’s army commander told Reuters.

Alcantara said the rebels had agreed to ward off any polling precinct and not to disperse their forces from May 3 to 13. "We're not allowing anybody with guns in polling areas except soldiers and police officers," he continued.

On Friday, easefire "panels" from both sides signed an agreement. Toks Ebrahim, head of the MILF's ceasefire negotiators, stated that they would tell their forces to resist violence which would disrupt both the elections and other peace talks. He told media that they we’ll restrain their forces to avoid violence during the elections.

This year’s elections will provide fresh hopes for achieving peace and progress not only in Mindanao but in the whole nation as well. From a pool of ten yearning presidential candidates possessing different plans for the country, only one will get the highest government position in the archipelago.

The newly elected leaders must act fast if we want the Philippines to attain sustainable development and fare well in the international level so as not to get left behind. This will only happen if we choose and put into position the right set of leaders the country has ever needed for such a long time. Vote wisely. Do not settle on the crowd’s favorite or on what people endorse to you. Vote on the candidate whom you really believe in and you would entrust your loved ones’ future.

Election 2010 Update: GPS Trackers for PCOS Machines

April 23, 2010 (Friday) - Director Roberto Rosales says that the National Capital Region Police Office will be mounting GPS (Global Positioning System) trackers on all police patrol vehicles to secure the transport of the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines which will be used come election day.
