The city governments and residents of Metro Manila have conducted an earthquake drill in preparation for what is long-feared "The Big One", which would have at least a magnitude of 7.2. Residents, mostly government employees, walked out of their buildings to proceed to declared evacuation areas.

(Reuters) - A massive earthquake measuring 7.7 magnitude struck 80 km (50 miles) east of Pokhara in Nepal on Saturday, causing some buildings in the capital Kathmandu to collapse, witnesses said.
There was no immediate word on casualties.
A Reuters reporter in Kathmandu said he had seen some buildings collapse and walls of several houses reduced to rubble.
"Everyone is out in the streets, people are rushing to the hospital,” the reporter said.
Tremors were felt as far away as New Delhi and other northern cities in India.
"Massive tremors have been felt here in Delhi and several other parts of India," said a newsreader on NDTV in Delhi.
"You can see pictures of our Delhi studios, where the windows rattled and everything shook for a very long time, for a minute perhaps or longer," she said as footage showed studio ceiling camera lights shaking.
A police officer in the control room of neighbouring Indian state of Bihar said the phone lines were jammed with callers from across the heavily populated state. "We don't know about the casualties, we are flooded with calls."
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was 7.7 magnitude and struck only 31 km (19 miles) deep.

A magnitude 5.6 quake shook Central and Southern Luzon at 7:52 PM, sending some residents from as far as Metro Manila out of their high-rise buildings. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the quake struck 14km NNW of Wawa, Philippines.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has reported that location of the quake, which measured 5.7 magnitude in its reading, was 13.65°N, 120.54°E – 022 km S 27° W of Calatagan, Batangas
PHIVOLCS head Renato Solidum Jr said the quake was felt at Intensity Five in Puerto Galera, Intensity Four in parts of Bulacan and Metro Manila (Mandaluyong), and Intensity Three in Quezon City.
No immediate reports of damages or casualties has been reported, as of posting time.
An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale shook Mindanao Saturday night at a depth of 5 kms.
State volcanologists from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said, that they anticipate damage and aftershocks from the quake which was recorded at 10:10 p.m., 12 kilometers northeast of Carmen, North Cotabato.
Intensity IV was felt in Matalam, North Cotabato. Intensity III was felt in Tacurong City, Marawi City; Kidapawan City; Cotabato City; Cagayan de Oro City; and Intensity II was felt Davao City; Valencia City; Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte, PHIVOLCS added.
A magnitude 6.5 earthquake rattled Surigao del Sur Saturday forcing its residents to flee briefly to higher ground, although no reports of damage were registered and no tsunami warnings were issued.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the quake struck at 2:17 AM, with its epicenter 22 kilometers northeast of Tandag City, or 832 km southeast of Manila, at a depth of 78 kilometers.
The US Geological Survey read magnitude 6.4 in this quake.
PHIVOLCS recorded several aftershocks, but it was reportedly hardly felt in the area. The residents of Tandag, after moving to higher grounds of the provincial capitol, went back to their homes shortly after.
MANILA, Philippines - (UPDATE) A strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the southern Philippine island of Mindanao early Saturday, US seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The US Geological Survey said the quake had a depth of 38 kilometers (24 miles) and hit at 2:17 a.m. (1817 GMT Friday) some 87 kilometers east of Butuan City.
The USGS had initially reported the quake as having a magnitude of 6.4, but revised it to 6.1.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology measured the quake at 6.5 magnitude and warned that aftershocks were expected.
No damage or injuries were immediately reported, regional civil defense officer Troy Callo told AFP, adding that some local residents complained about "objects falling inside houses".
The Philippines is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world, with an average of 20 typhoons battering the archipelago every year.
It also sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire -- a belt around the Pacific Ocean dotted by active volcanoes and unstable ocean trenches.

A magnitude 5.6 quake hit Bukidnon Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said, after quakes shook Eastern Samar and Sultan Kudarat few days ago.
The tremor was located 15 kilometers northwest of Maramag, Bukdinon. It was felt at around 3:44 a.m, with its epicenter at a depth of 3 kilometers,.
It was also felt in areas nearb, Intensity IV in Valencia City (Bukidnon) and Arakan, North Cotabato,
Intensity III in Malaybalay City (Bukidnon), Cagayan De Oro City, Misamis Oriental and Kidapawan City, and Intensity II in Butuan City and Cotabato City.
There were no reports of damages or casualties as of posting time. Meanwhile, Friday’s 7.6- magnitude Samar quake had at least 447 aftershocks to date.
Initial reports from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismmology (Phivolcs) show that a magnitude 5.9 quake struck off Sultan Kudarat Monday afternoon.
Time of strike is around 2:49 PM Manila time, with epicenter estimated at 67 kilometers northwestwest of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.
The Mindanao earthquake, which followed a magnitude 7.6 quake off Eastern Samar, was felt in Cotobato City (intensity 4), Maguindanao (intensity 3), Kidapawan City (intensity 2) in Sultan Kudarat, and Zamboanga City in Zamboanga peninsula.
There are no reports of immediate damage as of posting time.
